Painting on Paper
Iguanas can range from 1.5 to 1.8 metres in length, including their tail. the muscles of an iguana are very light in colour, this is due to the high proportion of fast glycolytic muscle fibres. these fibres are not very vascularized and are low in myoglobin, giving them their paler look.
This high density of fast glycolytic muscle fibres allows iguanas to move very quickly for a short period of time, which facilitates short bursts of movement but is inefficient for long duration movement, since cellular respiration in fast glycolytic muscle fibres in anaerobic.
It took me quite long to predict and portray every little detail of this creature's skin texture, expressions etc. The blurry background really brings out the portrait and its vibrancy. I have used light and extreme dark shades of watercolour paint.
